About The Folks File
The Folks File is a small business based in Spain. We make The Parent Paperwork System, a digital kit that helps grown children write down where a parent’s papers, accounts, bills and contacts are kept, and who to call about each one.
It’s written for families in the US. The steps, the examples and the government links are all for the US.
How we built the kit
Your parent stays in charge.
The papers belong to your parent, and so does the timing. The kit asks for their OK before anything is shared, and it has a “not yet” path for when the answer is no.
Where, never what.
The kit never asks for passwords, PINs, security answers, full Social Security numbers or full account numbers. You write down where things are kept. For example: “Signed originals: fireproof box, red folder, bedroom closet.”
Short steps.
Most steps take about 15 minutes. You can stop after the Core Ten, the ten things families usually look for first.
Plain words.
No jargon. Every conversation script has an opening line, common pushbacks with calm replies, and a way to stop.
Files you keep.
PDF guides you can print or read on screen, and spreadsheets that work in Google Sheets or Excel. No app, no account with us, no subscription.
What we don’t do
- We don’t give advice. The kit is an organizing tool. It is not legal, tax or financial advice. When a question needs a professional, the kit says so.
- We aren’t part of, or approved by, any government. The kit links to US government (.gov) pages so you can read the source yourself.
- We don’t see what you write. Your binder and your copy of the Family Hub stay with you.
- No videos, coaching, calls or newsletters. It’s files only. We email you only about your order and about updates to your files.
Who runs The Folks File
The Folks File is a small business based in Spain. We are not lawyers, accountants or financial planners, and the kit doesn’t give advice in any of those areas.
We sell to US buyers, in US dollars. Because we’re based in Spain, some card issuers may add a foreign transaction fee. That fee comes from your card issuer, not from us.
What you can count on
- 30-day refund, no questions asked. Email us within 30 days of your purchase.
- Free updates through Dec. 31, 2027. When we update a file, we email the new download link to the address on your order.
